Family Hiking

Pack 415 had arranged a family hiking at Hellyer Park, San Jose.

Prior to the event, cub scouts were assigned various roles such as trail leader, First aid leader, Snack leader. During den meetings, respective leaders discussed their duties and responsibilities while hiking. Snack leaders discussed about nutritional value of snacks for hike and prepared trail mix for the den members. First aid leaders showcased their first aid skills for cuts, burns and insect bites, allergies. They prepared first aid kits for the den members. Cub scouts exercise everyday for 30 minutes to build stamina for the hiking and similar outdoor activities.

On the event day, families and cub scouts arrived at Hellyer park by 10 am. Under the supervision of den leaders and guidance of trail leaders, cub scouts completed 3 miles of hike.

Post-hike, scouts cleared trash surrounding Cottonwood Lake. Cubs showed the great enthusiasm towards the task assigned and collected nearly 60 lbs of trash.
